Serendipity. I had planned to go to Isle sur la Sorgue, but when I got to the train station they said, "c'est pas possible"..there are no trains going there today.
So, I went to Nimes instead. Say it the way the French do..Neem-a, I lucked out..it was a Sunday farmers market. Lots of free tastes of the most awesome cheeses, stupendous olive oils, home made jams and tapenades. Everything lavender. Farm animals for the kids to pet and the bulls they will kill at the bullfight were on display.
I had thought that I wanted to see a bullfight because I read they do not kill the bulls here, but people who have been say it is not true. I've been to the arena..same one the Romans used for their slaughters, and it is very intimate. You would see every cruel blow. They cover the floor with sand to absorb the blood, same as the Romans did.
Aside from the bullfights, Nimes is great. It took me about 5 minutes to decide, "OK, I really would like living here." Here are some pics of Nimes.
